Targeting Success

Targeting Success

Hindi hadlang ang kahirapan sa magandang buhay na gusto mong makuha. Kailangan ng sikap, tiyaga at laging sasamahan ng dasal.

The classic tale of rags-to-riches one, which Filipinos love to fictionalize in movies and telenovelas, do not even scratch the surface of the hardships and tribulations that I had to go through to get to where I am now.

It was not an easy journey for the hardheaded businesswoman that I was even at the tender age of seven years old. I started selling Chocnut to my classmates and hoarding the profits. I used some of the money for our daily needs, but I always kept some back. By the time I was in college, I was selling food and clothes.

What if Decena and other successful individuals merely gave up on their goals due to lack of resources? – Marilyn C. Arayata

Cristina Decena

I did not waste any time. I was not afraid to learn the business from literally the ground up, working with manual laborers as easily as with architects and engineers. I studied the business with the diligence I had applied to my studies, and I learned well.  There’s no instant success. One must endure discomfort and maximize resources.

I wish to be an inspiration to others, not only to my children but to the youth of today. Never give up. Never let the lack of resources be an excuse for you not to achieve your goals in life. Trust yourself and do your best at all cost. But never forget to ask God for guidance. He always listens.
